The final guitar I wanted to make with Crimson had to fulfill a number of ideas I had not previously found space for.

The guitar had to be ergonomic, a neck-thru construction, multi-laminate, have pickups that could sound like everything and be made from beautiful, natural timbers with an oil finish.

​

Looking at companions builds (particularly one of the early 6 day course builds) - I had fallen in love with Walnut.  Getting a piece large enough for the neck thru design was only one of the stumbling blocks I had.

I was inspired also by a bedroom design, using Walnut with Creme sheets - and memories of the childhood treat of "Walnut Whips" came to mind...
